Synopsis – What to Expect from “Used Cars”
Used Cars is a 1980 American satirical comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Kurt Russell, Jack Warden, Gerrit Graham, and Michael McKean.
The film follows the story of Rudy Russo (Russell), a young car salesman in Arizona who is desperate to succeed in the competitive used car business. He works for Luke Fuchs (Warden), an aging car salesman who has been in the business for decades. When Luke’s brother Roy (Graham) arrives to take over the dealership, Rudy is determined to do whatever it takes to keep his job and save the dealership from Roy’s unscrupulous business practices.
Rudy teams up with his best friend Jim (McKean) to come up with a plan to save the dealership. They devise a scheme to rig a series of used car races in order to win the prize money and save the dealership. Along the way, Rudy and Jim must contend with a host of eccentric characters, including a corrupt state trooper, a cheating race car driver, and a diabolical car dealer.
As the race heats up, Rudy and Jim must use their wits and ingenuity to outsmart their opponents and save the dealership. In the end, Rudy’s determination and loyalty to his friends and the dealership pay off, and he is able to save the day.
