Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend is a Netflix Original movie based on the popular sitcom, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The movie follows Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) as she embarks on a journey to confront the Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm), the man who kidnapped her and held her captive in an underground bunker for 15 years.
The movie begins with Kimmy and her friends Titus (Tituss Burgess), Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski), and Lillian (Carol Kane) planning a trip to Florida to confront the Reverend. Along the way, they run into some familiar faces, including Kimmy’s former captor Gretchen (Lauren Adams) and the Reverend’s ex-wife Cyndee (Sara Chase).
Once they arrive in Florida, Kimmy and the gang have to figure out how to get to the Reverend and confront him. With the help of a former cult member (Dylan Gelula), they manage to track him down and confront him at his new church. The Reverend is initially unrepentant, but Kimmy’s heartfelt plea finally gets through to him and he apologizes for his actions.
