Synopsis – What to Expect from “Two Moon Junction”
Two Moon Junction is a 1988 romantic drama set in the American South. The movie follows April (Sherilyn Fenn), a young woman from a wealthy family who is engaged to marry a man she does not love. On a trip to visit her grandmother in Alabama, April meets Perry (Richard Tyson), a rugged carnival worker. April and Perry have an intense and passionate affair, and April is forced to make a decision between her comfortable life and the freedom she finds with Perry.
The movie opens with April’s engagement party in Atlanta, Georgia. April is surrounded by her wealthy family and friends, but is clearly unhappy with her engagement. She escapes to her grandmother’s house in Alabama, where she meets Perry. Perry is a carnival worker who is visiting the area. April is immediately drawn to him, and the two begin a passionate affair.
Meanwhile, April’s family is trying to arrange her marriage to her fiancé. April’s grandmother is supportive of her relationship with Perry, and encourages her to follow her heart. April’s fiancé is not so understanding, and is determined to win her back.
April is torn between the life she knows and the freedom she finds with Perry. She struggles to make a decision, and ultimately chooses to follow her heart. The movie culminates in an emotionally charged scene, as April and Perry run away together. As they drive away, they share a passionate kiss under the light of the two moons.
