Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tuff Turf”
Tuff Turf is an action-packed 1980s coming-of-age drama set in the cutthroat world of high school. The film follows Morgan Hiller (James Spader), a new student at a prestigious private school in Los Angeles. Morgan quickly finds himself out of his element, as he clashes with the school’s affluent and powerful students, led by the sadistic Nick (Robert Downey Jr.).
Morgan soon finds solace in the company of his new friend, the streetwise and tough-as-nails Frankie (Kim Richards). Together, they form a tight bond and set out to take on the upper-class bullies. But when Morgan falls for Nick’s girlfriend, Darcy (Paula Abdul), their friendship is put to the test.
The two friends must now face off against Nick and his gang of thugs in a series of epic battles. With the help of a mysterious kung-fu master (Morgan Woodward), Morgan and Frankie must battle their way through the mean streets of Los Angeles in order to protect their friendship and win the heart of the girl they both love. In the end, Morgan and Frankie must prove themselves worthy of the title of “Tuff Turf”.
