Synopsis/Plot
Truth is a drama film released in 2015, directed by James Vanderbilt and starring Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Topher Grace, Dennis Quaid, and Elisabeth Moss. The film is based on the true story of Mary Mapes (Blanchett), a veteran television news producer for CBS, and her team of investigative journalists, who uncovered the truth about former President George W. Bush’s military service during the 2004 presidential election.
The film follows Mapes and her team as they uncover evidence that Bush received preferential treatment while serving in the Texas Air National Guard, and that his service record was falsified. As the evidence begins to mount, Mapes and her team face increasing pressure from their superiors to back down and not pursue the story. Despite the risks, Mapes and her team continue to pursue the truth, and eventually their story is broadcast on the CBS Evening News.
