Synopsis/Plot
True Story is a 2015 American mystery drama film directed by Rupert Goold and written by Goold and David Kajganich. The film stars Jonah Hill, James Franco, and Felicity Jones.
The film tells the story of Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill), a disgraced New York Times journalist who is struggling to rebuild his career and reputation after being fired for fabricating parts of a story. He is contacted by Christian Longo (James Franco), a man on the FBI’s Most Wanted list who has assumed Finkel’s identity. Longo is accused of murdering his wife and children in Oregon and is looking for someone to tell his story.
Finkel is initially suspicious of Longo, but is eventually convinced to help him tell his story. He visits Longo in prison and begins to investigate the case, uncovering a complex web of lies, deceit, and manipulation. As Finkel delves deeper into the case, he begins to question his own morality and journalistic ethics.
True Story is a gripping mystery drama that explores the power of storytelling and its ability to manipulate and deceive. With strong performances from its leads, it is an intense and emotionally charged film that will leave viewers questioning their own beliefs
