Synopsis/Plot
True Grit is a 2010 American western film directed by the Coen brothers. It is the second adaptation of Charles Portis’ 1968 novel of the same name, which was previously released in 1969 starring John Wayne. The film follows the story of fourteen-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld), who seeks revenge for the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin). She hires the toughest U.S. Marshal she can find, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), to help her on her mission.
The film follows Mattie and Rooster as they set off on a perilous journey into Indian territory to capture Chaney. Along the way, they are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon), who is also searching for Chaney for a separate crime. The trio must overcome numerous obstacles and confront various villains in order to find Chaney and bring him to justice.
