Synopsis – What to Expect from “Trees Lounge”
Trees Lounge is a 1996 American drama film written and directed by Steve Buscemi. The movie follows Tommy, a thirty-five-year-old unemployed mechanic living in a small blue-collar town on Long Island. After his girlfriend leaves him, Tommy visits the local bar, Trees Lounge, to drown his sorrows.
At Trees Lounge, Tommy meets a cast of colorful characters including Mel, the bar’s proprietor, and his friend Mike, a fellow unemployed mechanic. Tommy also meets Ronnie, an attractive young woman, and develops a romantic interest in her.
Meanwhile, Tommy’s life begins to unravel as he struggles to find work and his relationship with his family becomes strained. He also develops a drinking problem, and his visits to Trees Lounge become more frequent.
When Ronnie reveals that she is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s child, Tommy offers to marry her and take care of the baby. Ronnie refuses, and Tommy’s drinking problem begins to spiral out of control.
Desperate for money, Tommy takes a job driving a truck for a local mobster. He soon discovers that the job requires him to transport stolen goods. When Tommy refuses to participate, the mobster threatens to hurt Ronnie and her baby.
Faced with an impossible choice, Tommy must decide between his own safety and the safety of those he loves. In the end, Tommy makes a courageous decision that will change his life forever.
