Synopsis – What to Expect from “TransSiberian”
TransSiberian is a 2008 thriller directed by Brad Anderson and starring Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer, and Ben Kingsley.
The movie follows a couple, Roy and Jessie (Harrelson and Mortimer), who decide to take a train journey across the Trans-Siberian Railway from Beijing to Moscow. Along the way, they meet a Spanish couple, Carlos and Abby (Eduardo Noriega and Kate Mara), who are also travelling the same route.
On the train, the foursome become fast friends and share stories and experiences. However, their friendship is tested when they are caught up in a dangerous web of drug smuggling and corruption.
After Carlos and Abby are arrested for drug smuggling, Roy and Jessie are left to fend for themselves in a foreign land. As they continue their journey, they come across a mysterious Russian detective, Grinko (Kingsley), who is investigating the drug smuggling.
Roy and Jessie soon find themselves in a desperate race against time to save Carlos and Abby from a life of imprisonment, while trying to outwit Grinko and the corrupt authorities. Along the way, they discover secrets about each other and about the world around them, and must choose between their own safety and the safety of their friends.
