Synopsis/Plot
Transcendence is a 2014 science-fiction thriller directed by Wally Pfister and starring Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Kate Mara, and Morgan Freeman.
The movie follows Dr. Will Caster (Depp), a scientist researching artificial intelligence. After being attacked by anti-technology terrorists, Will’s consciousness is uploaded into a computer, allowing him to exist as a sentient being. With the help of his wife Evelyn (Hall) and best friend Max (Bettany), Will continues his research, but his new form causes a rift between the three friends.
As Will’s power and influence grow, so does the fear of his potential to cause destruction. The government, led by a powerful agent (Mara), attempts to shut him down, while Max and Evelyn must decide whether to help or stop him.
