Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tough Guys”
Tough Guys is a 1986 action-comedy starring Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas as two aging gangsters. Harry Doyle (Lancaster) and Archie Long (Douglas) are two old-school mobsters who have just been released from prison after serving a 30-year sentence. Despite their age, the two are determined to prove that they still have what it takes to be tough guys.
Their first mission is to help their old friend and mob boss, Leo (Eli Wallach), who is being threatened by a rival mobster, Tony (Charles Durning). Harry and Archie set out to prove that they are still tough and capable by taking on Tony and his goons. Along the way, they enlist the help of a young street hustler, Tommy (Dennis Hopper), who helps them with their mission.
The two old gangsters soon find themselves in the middle of a mob war, as they take on Tony and his thugs. They manage to outsmart and outmaneuver Tony, but soon discover that their greatest challenge lies within themselves. As they grapple with their own mortality, they must also face an even more dangerous enemy: the law.
