Synopsis/Plot
Total Eclipse is a 1995 biographical drama film directed by Agnieszka Holland and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and David Thewlis. The film is based on the true story of the passionate and volatile relationship between the French poet Paul Verlaine and the young Arthur Rimbaud.
The film follows the two poets as they embark on a tumultuous and often destructive relationship. Verlaine, an established poet in his thirties, is a married man with a young son, yet he is captivated by the brash and rebellious Rimbaud, who is only seventeen. Despite their age difference, the two men fall deeply in love and embark on a passionate affair.
Their relationship is a roller coaster of emotions, from passionate love to bitter hatred. As their affair progresses, Verlaine’s life begins to unravel, and he is forced to confront his own demons. Meanwhile, Rimbaud is on a quest for self-discovery and enlightenment, and his behavior becomes increasingly erratic and unpredictable.
The film is a powerful and evocative exploration of the power of love and its capacity to both destroy and transform. It is a story of two men, driven by their passions and desires
