Synopsis – What to Expect from “Top Five”
Top Five is a 2014 American comedy film written and directed by Chris Rock.
The story follows Andre Allen (Chris Rock), a famous comedian and movie star, as he embarks on a quest to find the true meaning of his life. Andre is in the midst of a career crisis as he is tired of being pigeonholed as a comedic actor and wants to be taken seriously. He goes on a press tour to promote his new movie, a serious drama about a Haitian slave revolt, which is a flop.
Along the way, he meets Chelsea Brown (Rosario Dawson), a journalist who is writing a profile on him. Chelsea is an aspiring writer and is also struggling with her own career. As the two of them go on a whirlwind tour of New York, they form a strong bond.
Meanwhile, Andre’s ex-wife, Erica Long (Gabrielle Union), is trying to get back together with him. Andre must decide whether to pursue a new relationship with Chelsea or try to rekindle the old one with Erica.
The film follows Andre’s journey of self-discovery as he struggles to find his true identity and purpose in life. He learns to accept his past, his flaws, and his mistakes. In the end, Andre discovers that happiness comes from within and that he must accept his life for what it is.
Top Five is a funny and heartwarming story about finding one’s true self
