Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tom and Huck”
Tom and Huck is a 1995 American adventure comedy-drama film based on Mark Twain’s novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The film follows the adventures of two young boys, Tom Sawyer (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Huckleberry Finn (Brad Renfro), growing up in the antebellum South.
The film opens with Tom and Huck fishing in the Mississippi River, where they stumble upon a body. Tom is determined to solve the mystery of who killed the man, and he and Huck set out to find the murderer. Along the way, they encounter a number of colorful characters, including Injun Joe (Eric Schweig), a Native American out for revenge, and Muff Potter (Michael McKean), a kind-hearted drunk.
Tom and Huck eventually discover that Injun Joe is the murderer, and they devise a plan to bring him to justice. With the help of their friend, Becky Thatcher (Amy Sakasitz), they set a trap for Injun Joe and expose him. Injun Joe is arrested and brought to trial, but Tom and Huck’s plan is foiled when Injun Joe escapes.
Tom and Huck are then forced to go on the run, pursued by Injun Joe and his gang. The boys eventually make it to Jackson’s Island, where they hide out in an old fort. With help from their friends, they manage to outwit Injun Joe and his gang and make it back home safely.
