Tolkien is a 2019 biopic about the life of the renowned author and philologist J.R.R. Tolkien. Directed by Dome Karukoski, the film stars Nicholas Hoult as the titular character and follows his life from his childhood in the English countryside to his early days as an Oxford professor.
The film begins with a young Tolkien living with his widowed mother in the countryside. He has two close friends, Robert and Geoffrey, and they form a close bond of friendship.
