Synopsis – What to Expect from “To Live and Die in L.A.”

To Live and Die in L.A. is a 1985 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by William Friedkin and starring William Petersen, Willem Dafoe, John Pankow, and Debra Feuer.

The story follows Secret Service agent Richard Chance (Petersen) and his partner John Vukovich (Pankow) as they investigate the counterfeiting ring of ruthless criminal master-mind Eric Masters (Dafoe). After a heated altercation with Masters, Chance becomes obsessed with taking him down, even if it means breaking the law.

The investigation leads Chance and Vukovich to a pawn shop in the heart of Los Angeles where they discover counterfeit money being sold. After a violent altercation with the shop owner, they find out that Masters is behind the counterfeiting ring.

Chance and Vukovich set out to bring Masters to justice, but their mission becomes complicated when they discover that Masters is working with a corrupt police officer, Carl Cody (John Turturro). Masters and Cody use their police connections to stay one step ahead of Chance and Vukovich and to keep their counterfeiting operation running.

When Masters learns that Chance has a personal vendetta against him, he sets out to make an example of Chance and take him down. As the stakes become higher, Chance and Vukovich are forced to go to extreme lengths to bring Masters to justice.

The film follows Chance and Vukovich
