Synopsis/Plot
To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic film based on Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. Set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama during the Great Depression, the film follows the story of Scout Finch, a young girl who is growing up with her brother Jem and their father, Atticus Finch. Atticus is a lawyer who is assigned to defend Tom Robinson, a black man accused of rape. Despite the racism and prejudice of the town, Atticus takes on the case and stands up against the bigotry and injustice of the town.
The film is a coming-of-age story, as Scout and Jem learn about the hard truths of life in Maycomb, as well as the power of empathy and justice. Along the way, they meet a variety of characters, including their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley, the town’s gossipy ladies, and their schoolteacher Miss Maudie. The film is a powerful exploration of racism and justice, as well as a story of family and friendship.
Gregory Peck stars as Atticus Finch, and Mary Badham plays Scout. The film also features Robert Duvall, John Megna, and Frank Over
