Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tin Men”
Tin Men is a 1987 American comedy-drama film directed by Barry Levinson. It stars Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito as two rival aluminum siding salesmen in Baltimore during the 1960s.
The film follows two aluminum siding salesmen, Ernest Tilley (Richard Dreyfuss) and Bill “BB” Babowsky (Danny DeVito). They have been in the business for years and are bitter rivals. Both men are ambitious and ruthless in their tactics to get the sale. The two men come into conflict when Tilley and his team of salesmen steal one of Babowsky’s customers.
Babowsky retaliates by calling on the police to arrest Tilley and his team. After a brief time in jail, Tilley and his team are released on probation. With the help of his lawyer, Tilley sues Babowsky for false arrest. The two men’s rivalry continues as they battle it out in court.
Meanwhile, both men’s lives become intertwined with the lives of the people around them. Tilley begins to develop a relationship with a young woman, Nora (Barbara Hershey), who is struggling to make ends meet. Babowsky’s wife, Elaine (Cathy Moriarty), is having an affair with a younger man.
