Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tin Cup”
Tin Cup is a romantic comedy-drama set in the world of professional golf. Roy McAvoy (Kevin Costner) is a former golf prodigy who has failed to live up to his potential, and is now a down-on-his-luck driving range owner in West Texas. He is content with his life, but his world is turned upside down when a successful former flame, Dr. Molly Griswold (Rene Russo), returns to town.
Molly is in town to cover the US Open golf tournament, and she’s accompanied by her current fiancé, the pompous and arrogant pro golfer David Simms (Don Johnson). Roy and Molly are instantly attracted to each other, and Roy decides to try to win her back by entering the US Open and competing against Simms.
Roy begins to train for the tournament, and is soon joined by his caddy Romeo (Cheech Marin). Together, they travel to the tournament and Roy’s game begins to improve. He’s soon able to compete with the best players in the tournament, and he even starts to gain a following of fans.
Meanwhile, Roy and Molly’s attraction to each other continues to grow. Despite the fact that she is engaged to Simms, Molly finds herself drawn to Roy’s passion and determination. As the tournament progresses, Roy’s game improves and he eventually makes it to the final round.
In the final round, Roy is able
