Synopsis/Plot
Thoroughbreds is a dark comedy-drama film directed by Cory Finley, and released in 2017. The movie follows two teenage girls, Lily and Amanda, who are former childhood friends that have grown apart over the years. Lily is a wealthy, upper-class girl who is socially awkward and emotionally withdrawn, while Amanda is a rebellious, lower-class teen who is desperate to escape her home life. When Lily’s family hires Amanda to tutor her, the two reconnect and form a peculiar bond.
The two girls come up with a plan to solve their respective problems, and they hatch a scheme to murder Lily’s oppressive stepfather. As they plan the crime, Lily and Amanda’s friendship grows deeper and darker, and they become increasingly obsessed with the idea of carrying out the perfect murder.
