Synopsis – What to Expect from “Thief”
Thief is a 1981 crime drama directed by Michael Mann and starring James Caan as Frank, a professional thief.
The film opens with Frank, a professional thief, and his partner, Barry, planning a heist of a jewelry store. They successfully steal the jewels, but their getaway is thwarted by the police. Frank is arrested and sent to prison.
While in prison, Frank meets a man named Okla, who introduces him to a life of crime on the outside. Okla gives Frank a chance to start over and join a gang of professional thieves. Frank agrees and is soon released from prison.
Frank joins the gang and begins to plan heists with them. He quickly rises through the ranks and is soon the leader of the gang. He plans and executes robberies with precision and skill.
As Frank’s reputation grows, he meets a woman named Jessie, who he falls in love with. Frank’s life of crime begins to take a toll on his relationship with Jessie, as he begins to become more and more distant.
Frank is offered a chance to go straight and start a new life. He takes the offer, but soon realizes that he misses the thrill of the heist and the camaraderie of his gang. He decides to go back to his old life and continue with the gang.
