Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Women”
The Women is a classic romantic comedy set in the 1930s. It follows the lives of a group of wealthy New York socialites and their complicated relationships. At the center of the story is Mary Haines, a happily married woman whose world is turned upside down when her husband begins an affair with a predatory perfume counter girl.
When Mary finds out, she turns to her close circle of friends, including Sylvia Fowler, a gossip columnist whose sharp wit and cutting remarks make her the life of the party; Edith Potter, a ditzy but kind-hearted socialite; and Peggy Day, a young working-class girl who is trying to make her way in the world.
