Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Wild Geese”
The Wild Geese is a 1978 British-American action-adventure film directed by Andrew V. McLaglen and starring Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris, and Hardy Krüger.
The story follows a group of mercenaries hired to rescue a deposed African president from a fictional African country. Led by Colonel Allen Faulkner (Burton), the team is composed of a diverse group of men, including a former British soldier (Moore), a former German soldier (Krüger), and a former IRA member (Harris).
The team is hired by a British industrialist (Stewart Granger) to rescue the deposed president, Julius Limbani (Winston Ntshona). The mission is complicated by the fact that Limbani is being held by a ruthless dictator, General Ndofa (Jack Watson).
The team is forced to battle their way through Ndofa’s forces in order to reach Limbani, while also dealing with internal strife caused by the team’s disparate backgrounds and experiences.
The Wild Geese is an exciting and action-packed adventure, featuring intense battle scenes, thrilling stunts, and a cast of colorful characters.
