Synopsis/Plot
The Water Horse is a 2007 family adventure film directed by Jay Russell and written by Robert Nelson Jacobs. The story follows a young boy named Angus MacMorrow who discovers a mysterious egg in the loch near his home in Scotland. When the egg hatches, Angus discovers a mythical creature known as the Water Horse, a magical creature that grows into a monstrously large creature.
Angus keeps the creature a secret from his family, naming it Crusoe, and raising it in the loch. As Crusoe grows, Angus discovers that the creature is a legendary creature known as the Loch Ness Monster. He must protect Crusoe from the military and a greedy entrepreneur who are both determined to capture the creature for their own gain.
The Water Horse is a heartwarming story of friendship and family, with a dash of fantasy thrown in. The film features beautiful cinematography of the Scottish Highlands and a compelling score by composer John Powell. The film stars Alex Etel as Angus, Emily Watson as his mother Anne, and Ben Chaplin as his father Lewis. The Water Horse is a charming and magical family film that will delight viewers of all ages.
