Synopsis/Plot
The Wanderers is a 1979 American comedy-drama film directed by Philip Kaufman and starring Ken Wahl, John Friedrich, Karen Allen, and Toni Kalem. Set in the Bronx in 1963, the film follows the exploits of a gang of Italian-American teenagers known as the Wanderers. The gang, led by Richie (Wahl), navigate the turbulent streets of the Bronx while trying to survive the violence and racial tensions of the era.
The Wanderers follows Richie and his friends as they attempt to fit in and gain respect in their neighborhood. Along the way, they must deal with a rival gang, the Fordham Baldies, as well as the struggles of growing up and finding their place in the world. The film is a coming-of-age story that is both humorous and dramatic, as the gang experiences joy, heartbreak, and tragedy.
