Synopsis/Plot
The Voices is a 2014 horror-comedy film directed by Marjane Satrapi. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Jerry, a mentally ill man who works in a bathtub factory and lives alone in his apartment. His life is turned upside down when he falls in love with a beautiful woman named Fiona (Gemma Arterton).
Jerry’s mental illness causes him to hear voices, which he believes come from his pet cat Mr. Whiskers and his dog Bosco. The voices urge Jerry to do bad things, and he often follows their advice. When Fiona moves in with him, Jerry is determined to be a good boyfriend, but his mental illness and the voices make it difficult for him to control his behavior.
The film follows Jerry as he struggles to keep his mental illness in check, while also trying to make his relationship with Fiona work. As his mental state deteriorates, Jerry begins to lose his grip on reality and his behavior becomes increasingly erratic. He is eventually arrested for murder, and it is up to Fiona to prove his innocence.
