Synopsis/Plot
The Vigil is a 2019 American horror film directed by Keith Thomas and written by Keith Thomas and Olatunde Osunsanmi. The film stars Dave Davis, Menashe Lustig, Malky Goldman, Lynn Cohen, and Roni Akurati.
The film is set in the Hasidic community of Brooklyn, New York, and follows a troubled young man, Yakov (Dave Davis), who takes a job as a shomer, a night watchman, for a recently deceased member of his community. He soon finds himself in a supernatural battle for his soul as he is forced to confront his past and face the powerful forces of evil.
Yakov is hired by a Hasidic sect to watch over the body of a recently deceased man. He is warned not to leave the premises, and to remain vigilant at all times. Yakov soon discovers that the house he is guarding is haunted by a malevolent entity. As the night progresses, he is terrorized by increasingly terrifying visions and events. He must confront his own fears and inner demons in order to survive the night.
