Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Two Faces of January”
The Two Faces of January follows the story of con artist Chester MacFarland (Viggo Mortensen) and his wife Colette (Kirsten Dunst). The couple are on vacation in Greece when they meet Rydal (Oscar Isaac), a young American who works as a tour guide. Rydal is immediately attracted to Colette, and when an altercation with a local police officer results in the death of the officer, Rydal helps the couple cover up the crime and flee the country.
The trio travel to Istanbul, where they are pursued by a private detective hired by the officer’s family. As the three become increasingly entangled in a web of deceit and danger, the lines between right and wrong become blurred and the consequences of their actions become more dire.
The film follows the trio as they attempt to outrun their pursuers and uncover the truth behind the officer’s death. Along the way, they must face their own inner demons and confront the secrets of their pasts. In the end, they must decide what is right and what is wrong, and whether they will be able to escape the consequences of their actions.
