Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Truth About Cats & Dogs”
The Truth About Cats & Dogs is a romantic comedy released in 1996. It stars Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo as Abby Barnes and Noelle Slusarsky, respectively.
Abby Barnes is a beautiful veterinarian who hosts a radio show called “The Truth About Cats and Dogs”. She is an expert on animals, but is painfully shy when it comes to her own love life. Noelle Slusarsky is an aspiring photographer and Abby’s neighbor. She is attractive and outgoing, but lacks Abby’s expertise on animals.
When a caller to Abby’s show requests a photograph of her for a magazine article, Abby panics and asks Noelle to pose as her. Noelle agrees, and the two become friends. Noelle quickly becomes popular on the show, and Abby is jealous of the attention her new friend is getting.
Meanwhile, Abby meets a handsome man named Brian, and the two soon fall in love. Noelle is happy for Abby, but is also secretly in love with Brian. When Abby finds out the truth, she is devastated and the two friends have a falling out.
When Brian proposes to Abby, Noelle decides to tell the truth about their deception. Abby is hurt and angry, but eventually forgives Noelle and the two reconcile. In the end, Abby and Brian get married and Noelle moves to Paris to pursue her photography career.
