The Town That Dreaded Sundown is a 2014 American horror film directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The film is a remake of a 1976 film of the same name, and is based on the true story of a series of unsolved murders in Texarkana in the 1940s.
The film follows a young woman named Jami (Addison Timlin) who has recently moved to the small town of Texarkana. She soon discovers that the town has a dark past – a serial killer known as the Phantom Killer terrorized the town in 1946. The killer was never caught and the town has been living in fear ever since.
Jami soon finds herself in the middle of a new series of murders, as the Phantom Killer has returned. She teams up with a local detective (Travis Tope) to try and put a stop to the killings. As the killer continues to elude them, Jami and the detective must uncover the truth behind the murders and the identity of the Phantom Killer before it’s too late.
