Synopsis/Plot
The Towering Inferno is a classic 1974 disaster film directed by John Guillermin and Irwin Allen. The film stars an all-star cast including Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, William Holden, Fred Astaire, Robert Wagner, Richard Chamberlain, Jennifer Jones, Robert Vaughn, O.J. Simpson, and Faye Dunaway.
The story follows the occupants of the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Glass Tower, on the night of its grand opening. The building is a marvel of modern engineering, but as the festivities get underway, a fire breaks out on the 81st floor. With the building’s fire safety systems disabled, the flames quickly spread throughout the tower, trapping the occupants inside.
The fire chief, played by Steve McQueen, leads the effort to save the people inside the building. He is joined by the building’s architect, Doug Roberts (Paul Newman), who is determined to save his creation. Together, they battle the raging inferno, while the building’s owner, James Duncan (William Holden), and the mayor (Robert Vaughn) do their best to keep the situation under control.
The Towering Inferno is an action-packed thrill ride that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat
