Synopsis/Plot
The Thirteenth Year is a 1999 Disney Channel Original Movie directed by Duwayne Dunham. The film follows the story of Cody Griffin, a 13-year-old boy who discovers he is actually a merman.
When Cody’s 13th birthday arrives, strange things start to happen. After a night of swimming in the ocean, he wakes up to find he has grown a tail. He soon discovers he is a merman, the son of a human woman and a merman.
Cody must now learn to navigate his new life, while also struggling to keep his identity a secret. With the help of his best friend, Tess, and his new merman friend, Mark, Cody must learn to accept his new identity and find a way to fit in with his new life.
The Thirteenth Year is an inspiring film about acceptance and self-discovery. It follows Cody as he learns to accept his new identity and the struggles that come along with it. As Cody learns to embrace his true self, he also discovers the power of friendship and the importance of family.
