Synopsis/Plot

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 is a 2009 American thriller film directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington, John Travolta, Luis Guzmán, John Turturro, and James Gandolfini. The film is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name, and follows a New York City subway dispatcher (Washington) who has to deal with a criminal mastermind (Travolta) who hijacks a subway train and demands a ransom for the passengers.

The film begins with four men, led by Ryder (Travolta), hijacking a subway train on the Pelham 1 2 3 line and taking its passengers hostage. Ryder demands a ransom of $10 million in exchange for the hostages, and threatens to kill one passenger every minute if his demands are not met.

Walter Garber (Washington), the dispatcher on duty, is assigned to deal with Ryder and negotiate the ransom. As the situation progresses, Garber finds himself in a race against time to save the hostages, while the police, led by Camonetti (Turturro), attempt to find a way to stop Ryder.
