Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Sure Thing”
The Sure Thing is a 1985 American romantic comedy film directed by Rob Reiner and starring John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga. It tells the story of college student Walter Gibson (Cusack), who agrees to drive across the country with his friend, Lance (Anthony Edwards), to meet a girl (Zuniga) that Lance has a crush on. Along the way, Walter meets a girl of his own, Alison Bradbury (Nicollette Sheridan), and the two embark on a cross-country love story.
The movie begins with Walter and Lance, two college students who are bored with their lives and decide to embark on a road trip. Walter agrees to drive Lance to California to meet a girl he has a crush on, and the two set off on their journey. On the way, Walter meets Alison, a beautiful and sophisticated girl from the East Coast, and the two quickly develop a connection. As they continue their journey, Walter and Alison fall in love, while Lance continues to pursue his dream girl.
The two couples eventually make it to California, and Walter and Alison have a romantic weekend together. However, when they return to school, Walter is faced with the realization that Alison is not the girl he thought she was. Meanwhile, Lance meets his dream girl, and the two plan to get married. Walter is heartbroken, and he and Lance part ways.
