Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Super”
The Super is a 1991 comedy-drama directed by Rod Daniel and starring Joe Pesci, Vincent Gardenia, and Madeline Kahn. The film follows a down-on-his-luck handyman named Louie Kritski (Pesci) who is hired by an elderly couple, the Keatons (Gardenia and Kahn), to fix up their crumbling apartment building.
When Louie arrives, he finds the building in disrepair and the tenants in a state of disarray. He quickly gets to work, repairing the plumbing, fixing the wiring, and cleaning up the grounds. As Louie works, he begins to bond with the tenants and the Keatons, becoming a sort of surrogate father to everyone.
Meanwhile, a gang of criminals led by a man named Fingers (Paul Calderon) begins to terrorize the building, demanding protection money from the tenants. Louie steps in to protect the tenants and takes on Fingers and his gang in a series of hilarious and thrilling scenes.
Eventually, Louie and the Keatons are able to take back the building and restore it to its former glory. In the end, Louie is rewarded for his hard work and dedication and is given a job as the building’s new superintendent. The Super is a heartwarming and inspiring comedy-drama about the power of friendship and the importance of standing up for what is right.
