Synopsis/Plot
The Substitute is a 1996 action-thriller starring Tom Berenger as a former mercenary-turned-substitute teacher, who is hired to teach at an inner-city school. After being hired, the teacher discovers that the school is a hotbed of violence, drugs, and gang activity. He soon finds himself in the middle of a power struggle between the school’s administrators and the local drug lord.
The teacher employs his own brand of justice to take on the gang and restore order to the school. He uses his military training and experience to teach the students discipline and respect, while also helping them to understand the consequences of their actions.
