Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Story of Us”
The Story of Us is a 1999 romantic comedy-drama starring Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. It tells the story of Ben Jordan (Willis) and Katie Jordan (Pfeiffer), a married couple of 15 years who are living a comfortable life in the suburbs with their two children.
The story begins as Ben and Katie are preparing for their 15th wedding anniversary. As they reminisce about the past, Ben and Katie start to realize that they are growing apart. Ben is a workaholic who spends more time at the office than at home, while Katie is increasingly unhappy with their marriage.
The couple decides to take a week off and go on a vacation to try and rekindle their relationship. On their trip, they visit various places that they had visited in the past. At each place, they recall memories of their past, which leads to arguments and disagreements.
At the same time, their children are going through their own struggles. Their daughter is trying to find her way in the world and their son is struggling with his own identity. As Ben and Katie go through their own struggles, they must also help their children through theirs.
At the end of the trip, Ben and Katie realize that while they still have some unresolved issues, they still love each other. They return home and try to make their marriage work.
