Synopsis/Plot
The Sting is a 1973 American caper film set in the 1930s, directed by George Roy Hill and starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford as two grifters who seek revenge on a crime boss. The story is set in Chicago, Illinois, during the Great Depression and involves a complicated plot by two professional grifters to con a mob boss.
The film follows Johnny Hooker (Redford), a small-time grifter, and Henry Gondorff (Newman), a veteran con man, as they plan and execute a complicated revenge scheme against a mob boss, Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). The pair devise an elaborate plan to con Lonnegan out of a large sum of money by staging a phony horse race betting scam. The two enlist the help of numerous associates, including a crooked bookie, a pickpocket, and a card shark.
The film culminates in an exciting climax as the con men attempt to outwit the mob boss and his henchmen. Along the way, they must battle a corrupt police force and outsmart the mobsters. Ultimately, they succeed in their mission and make off with the money.
