Synopsis/Plot
The Star Wars Holiday Special is a 1978 American musical science fiction television film set in the Star Wars galaxy. It stars the original cast of the first Star Wars film, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker. The plot centers around Chewbacca and Han Solo trying to get home to Chewbacca’s family on the Wookiee holiday Life Day. Along the way, they are aided by Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2-D2, and are also hindered by the Imperial forces of Darth Vader.
The special also features an animated segment, which introduces the bounty hunter Boba Fett, a character who would later appear in the Star Wars sequels. Musical guests in the special include Jefferson Starship, Diahann Carroll, Bea Arthur, and Harvey Korman.
The special was met with negative reception from critics and fans, and is widely considered to be one of the worst movies ever made. However, it has since become a cult classic, and is a favorite among Star Wars fans.
