Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Square”
The Square is a 2017 Swedish satirical drama film written and directed by Ruben Östlund. The film follows Christian, a successful curator of a contemporary art museum, as he attempts to navigate the increasingly complex and chaotic world of modern art and politics.
The film opens with Christian hosting an opening night gala for a new exhibition at the museum. He is confident and charismatic, but his world is soon thrown into chaos when he is robbed in the street. His attempts to get the police to take the crime seriously fail, and he begins to question his own sense of justice.
Meanwhile, the museum’s PR team is launching a new campaign called “The Square”, which is intended to promote a sense of community and responsibility among the public. However, the campaign quickly goes awry when an ill-conceived video goes viral and Christian is forced to confront the consequences of his own actions.
The film follows Christian as he attempts to deal with the fallout from the incident, while also trying to make sense of the increasingly complex and chaotic world of modern art and politics. As the story progresses, Christian is forced to confront his own values and beliefs, and ultimately decide what kind of person he wants to be.
The Square is a thought-provoking and often humorous exploration of modern art, politics, and morality. With its cleverly written script and strong performances, the film offers an entertaining and thought-provoking look at the contemporary art world and its relationship
