Synopsis/Plot
The Sound of Music is a classic musical drama, released in 1965, based on the true story of the Von Trapp family. Set in Austria in 1938, the film follows Maria, a young postulant nun who is sent to be the governess for the seven children of the widowed Captain Von Trapp. Upon her arrival, Maria finds that the children are unruly and unhappy, yet she quickly wins them over with her lively spirit and charming songs.
The Captain is initially cold and distant towards Maria, but eventually warms to her, and the two eventually fall in love. As the bond between them grows, the Nazis are gaining power in Austria, and the Captain is pressured to join their cause. Refusing to do so, he and Maria, along with the children, flee Austria and escape to Switzerland.
