Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Single Moms Club”
The Single Moms Club is a 2014 comedy-drama film directed by Tyler Perry. It follows the lives of five single mothers from different walks of life who come together to form a support group and eventually become a family.
The story begins with May (Nia Long), a successful businesswoman who is struggling to balance her career and her demanding home life as a single mother of two. May is invited to a party by her friend and neighbor, Lytia (Wendi McLendon-Covey), who is also a single mother. At the party, the two meet four other single mothers: Esperanza (Zulay Henao), a young, single mother of a baby girl; Hillary (Amy Smart), a stay-at-home mom who is struggling to make ends meet; Jan (Cocoa Brown), a recent divorcee with two teenage sons; and Lytia’s sister, Marcie (Nefetari Spencer), a single mother of two young children.
The women soon find out that they have more in common than they thought, and decide to form the Single Moms Club, a support group for single mothers. They meet every week to discuss their struggles and successes, and support each other through their tough times. The club also provides a platform for the women to pursue their dreams, such as Jan’s dream of becoming a singer and Esperanza’s dream of starting her own business.
