Synopsis/Plot
The Royal Tenenbaums is a 2001 American comedy-drama film directed by Wes Anderson and co-written with Owen Wilson. The film stars Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, and Bill Murray.
The film tells the story of the eccentric and estranged Royal Tenenbaum family, which consists of three prodigal adult siblings and their parents. Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman), the patriarch of the family, is a former lawyer and con artist who has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness. He attempts to reunite his estranged family by convincing them to move back into the family home in New York City.
The siblings, Chas (Ben Stiller), a successful financial advisor; Richie (Luke Wilson), a former tennis prodigy; and Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow), a playwright, all have issues of their own.
