Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Revenant”
The Revenant is a 2009 American Western thriller directed by Christopher Nolan. The film follows Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), a legendary frontiersman who is attacked by a bear and left for dead by his hunting team. He survives the attack and sets out on a journey of revenge against his former companions, who abandoned him.
The story begins in the early 19th century, when a fur trading expedition led by Captain Andrew Henry (Domhnall Gleeson) is attacked by a group of Native Americans. In the chaos, Hugh Glass is mauled by a bear and left for dead. The expedition’s leader, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), volunteers to stay behind and care for Glass until he dies. However, Fitzgerald and his cohorts abandon Glass, leaving him alone and injured in the wilderness.
Glass is determined to survive and sets out to find his companions and exact revenge. He is aided by a Native American, Hikuc (Will Poulter), who helps Glass heal and guides him on his journey. Along the way, Glass faces numerous obstacles, including a raging river, a hostile tribe of Native Americans, and a violent winter storm.
