Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Report”

The Report is a 2019 political drama film directed by Scott Z. Burns and starring Adam Driver and Annette Bening. The film follows Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver), a Senate staffer tasked with investigating the CIA’s use of torture after 9/11.

The film begins with Daniel being assigned to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, where he is tasked with leading an investigation into the CIA’s use of torture following the 9/11 attacks. Daniel and his team of investigators comb through millions of pages of classified documents and uncover a pattern of deception and abuse of power by the CIA. Despite the CIA’s attempts to cover up their actions, Daniel and his team are determined to uncover the truth.

As the investigation progresses, Daniel begins to realize that the CIA’s actions have had a devastating impact on the lives of many innocent people and that the government is complicit in the cover-up. Despite the CIA’s attempts to obstruct his investigation, Daniel and his team are determined to expose the truth.

The film culminates with the release of the Senate Report, which reveals the extent of the CIA’s torture program. As the report is released to the public, Daniel is praised for his courage and dedication to uncovering the truth. However, he is also criticized for exposing the government’s secrets, and his life is threatened by those who wish to keep the truth hidden.

Ultimately, The Report is a gripping political drama that sheds light on the dark underbelly
