Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Raven”
The Raven is a classic horror movie released in 1963, directed by Roger Corman and starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Boris Karloff.
The film follows Edgar Allan Poe (Vincent Price), a troubled writer who is haunted by the dark and mysterious raven. After Poe’s fiancée, Lenore (Hazel Court), is kidnapped by a madman, Poe must confront his inner demons and follow the raven to save her.
The madman is Dr. Bedlo (Peter Lorre), a former student of Poe’s who has gone insane after being subjected to a bizarre experiment by Dr. Scarabus (Boris Karloff). Scarabus had been experimenting with a serum that would make people immortal, but it had the side effect of driving them insane. Bedlo was the unfortunate subject of the experiment and he is now out for revenge against Poe.
Poe must journey into the dark and mysterious world of the supernatural to save Lenore. Along the way, he discovers a secret society of immortals, led by Scarabus, who are determined to keep their secret from the world. With the help of a mysterious woman named Estelle (Olive Sturgess), Poe must battle the forces of evil and save Lenore before it is too late.
