Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Principal”
The Principal is a 1987 American crime drama film starring Jim Belushi, Louis Gossett Jr., Rae Dawn Chong, and Michael Wright. The film follows a high school principal, Rick Latimer (Belushi), who is determined to make a difference in the lives of the students at his inner-city school.
The story begins with a group of students vandalizing the school and getting into a fight with the principal. After the incident, Rick decides to take matters into his own hands and make the school a better place. He begins to implement a strict zero-tolerance policy for violence, drugs, and weapons. He also makes it his mission to change the attitudes of the students and faculty at the school.
Rick begins to make some progress, but he soon finds himself facing resistance from the students, faculty, and even the school board. He also discovers that the school is being used as a front for a drug-dealing operation and that some of the faculty are involved.
Rick is determined to take down the drug-dealing operation and bring justice to the school. He teams up with a former student, Reggie (Wright), and together they set out to expose the truth. As they investigate, they uncover a conspiracy involving the school board and the police.
In the end, Rick and Reggie are able to bring down the drug-dealing operation and restore justice to the school. The film ends with Rick being promoted to superintendent and
