Synopsis/Plot
The Possession is a 2012 American supernatural horror film directed by Ole Bornedal and produced by Sam Raimi. It stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Natasha Calis, Madison Davenport, Grant Show, and Matisyahu. The story follows a young girl who becomes possessed by a powerful and ancient spirit after purchasing an antique wooden box at a yard sale.
The film opens with Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) divorced and struggling to cope with their two daughters, Em (Natasha Calis) and Hannah (Madison Davenport). Em finds an old wooden box at a yard sale and insists on buying it, despite her father’s warnings. When they get home, strange and supernatural events begin to occur in the house. Em becomes increasingly obsessed with the box, which is revealed to be a dibbuk box, an ancient Jewish relic used to contain spirits.
