Synopsis/Plot
The Pink Panther 2 is a 2009 comedy film directed by Harald Zwart and starring Steve Martin, Jean Reno, Emily Mortimer, and Andy Garcia. The film is the sequel to the 2006 film The Pink Panther and follows the bumbling French police inspector Jacques Clouseau (Martin) as he teams up with an international group of detectives to attempt to solve a mysterious string of robberies.
The story begins with the theft of a priceless artifact known as the “Pink Panther Diamond”. Clouseau and his team of detectives, which includes a Japanese detective (Garcia) and an Italian detective (Reno), travel around the world in search of the thief. Along the way, Clouseau must deal with his own bumbling antics and the various obstacles that stand in his way.
The film features plenty of slapstick comedy, as well as a few moments of suspense. The action takes place in various locations around the world, including Paris, Rome, and Tokyo. The film also features an array of colorful characters, including a mysterious thief known as “The Tornado” (John Cleese).
