Synopsis/Plot
The Paperboy is a 2012 American crime drama film directed by Lee Daniels and starring Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, John Cusack, and David Oyelowo. The film follows two reporters, Ward Jansen (McConaughey) and Yardley Acheman (Efron), as they investigate the events leading up to the death of a local sheriff in a small, rural town in Florida.
The story begins when Ward and Yardley arrive in the town to investigate the case of Hillary Van Wetter (Cusack), a death row inmate who has been convicted of murdering the sheriff. With the help of Ward’s younger brother Jack (Oyelowo) and a local woman, Charlotte Bless (Kidman), the two reporters uncover a web of lies and deceit that leads them to the truth behind the murder.
The film follows the two reporters as they uncover the truth about the case, while also exploring the relationships between the characters. Through their investigation, the two reporters come to understand the complexities of the small town and the people that inhabit it.
